The real danger begins when AI can improve itself. Roman believes AI research could be automated within two years, potentially starting a rapid cycle of machines designing ever-smarter machines.
We can have the benefits without building a superintelligence. Narrow AI could help cure diseases, solve scientific problems and create abundance without becoming better than humans at everything.
“Just program it to protect us” isn’t a solution. Humans cannot agree on one set of values - and researchers still cannot guarantee that an advanced AI would follow our instructions once it became more intelligent than us.

Three things I learned:

Cancellation often happens in private. It is not always thousands of ordinary people demanding someone lose their job. Often it is agents, venues and powerful people quietly deciding someone is too risky.
The worst part is not always the money. Andrew said being pushed out of the comedy world felt like being thrown out of his tribe. Losing your community can hurt more than losing work.
Share
Success can become a trap. Andrew believes mainstream comedy made him safer, richer and less interesting. Losing that world eventually gave him the freedom to make the comedy he actually wanted to make.

Live-streamed child abuse has increased 850% since Covid - and it happens on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Skype, not the dark web.
Big Tech can detect copyright music in seconds. They could detect live-streamed child abuse the same way. They choose not to - because it doesn’t make them any money.
